Barney’s New Home
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that, following successful completion of his two-year accredited training, Barney has now qualified as an Autism Service Dog and been placed with an Autistic child and his family in Perth. Barney's history with The Comfort Shop:
We have named our puppy Barney and we will sponsor him throughout his two-year training. Barney is a Labrador X Retriever and both his parents are trained assistance dogs.
Assistance Dogs Australia train selected puppies from 10 weeks old over a two year period. Once they graduate, these dogs will assist their owners, who suffer from physical disabilities, to live a much fuller and more independent life than would otherwise be possible.
Their motto is "Giving freedom and independence to people with disabilities" - and we feel this is a really worthwhile organisation for The Comfort Shop to support.
We will update photos of Barney as we receive them from Assistance Dogs Australia during his two year training period. Please take a look at the website www.assistancedogs.org.au, which further outlines the amazing work of Assistance Dogs Australia.
